Bel Air's Winter Wonderland 2023
In December downtown Bel Air Maryland comes alive with holiday sparkle and magic. If you have just moved here or are considering a move to Bel Air check out these fun events to help you get acclimated and learn more about the town of Bel Air Maryland.
Light displays throughout downtown
From 5 PM to 11 PM, the Christmas lights will be on throughout the historic downtown area of Bel Air. The first night of lights was November 25 and they will be on through January 6 it makes for a fun nighttime stroll through the area.
Horse-drawn carriage rides
Carriage rides are available from November 25 through December 16 beginning at 5 PM and ending at 9 PM. Carriage rides are complementary through the downtown area on Saturdays. You can sign up for a carriage ride in person at the Armory on the same day that you want to take a ride. Reservations will only be accepted in person for the day of the carriage ride. Volunteers begin taking names of interested riders as early as 4:30 PM.
Carriage rides are 10 minutes long and a carriage can hold up to four adults. Upon signing up for a ride at the Armory you'll be given a return time so that you do not have to wait around in line. You can enjoy the shops downtown while you wait for your turn.
Live music on Saturdays
Every Saturday you can enjoy live musical performances at Frederick Ward Armory Park from 5 PM to 8 PM
See the Train Garden on Fridays and Saturdays
Who doesn't love a fun toy train display during the holiday season? Enjoy a walk through the Christmas-themed train garden at the Armory marketplace in Suite 103. This is a fun free thing to do on Fridays and Saturdays beginning Thanksgiving weekend. The garden will also be open on December 3 from 3 PM to 8 PM during the Christmas parade. Or added fun you can do the scavenger hunt looking for special holiday items through the train displays.
Shop the Winter Wonderland market
Starting December 9 a collection of local vendors will set up their unique handcrafted items available for sale in the Bel Air Armory from noon to 9 PM. This is a chance to purchase gifts that you can't find anywhere else.
Come out and see Santa Claus
Santa will be in front of the Harford County Courthouse on Saturdays from 5 PM to 8 PM beginning Thanksgiving weekend through December 16. Come say hi and let the little ones tell him what they would like for Christmas this year. Make sure to snap a photo and keep your eye out for the popular Snow sisters of Bel Air.
Good information to know
Main Street will be closed on Saturday, December 9 from 4 PM to 9 PM to accommodate for the Winter Wonderland events on that day. It is suggested that anyone visiting downtown for the festival use the Hickory Avenue parking garage of the Hickory Avenue parking lot. There will also be parking available at Lee Street and the Pond/Thomas Street lots.
